The fact that the Financial Standards accounting board is changing the rules again does not seem to surprise many people. The bulk of concern surrounding these rule changes focuses on the inclusion of renewal options and percentage rent (for a more detailed explanation, please see Jim Duport’s article of Sept 20). I’ve read a great deal of how these changes are going to affect the corporate balance sheet, but I have not read much about how the changes are going to affect the practical working life of lease administrators and their supervisors.
