The History of Lucernex Technologies

Lucernex Technologies was founded in 2000 to address the unique needs of owners with diverse real estate portfolios. The founders set out to develop powerful software tools that address real estate development and location management from the top down. The result was one easy-to-use, full lifecycle solution with a low total cost of ownership (TCO) built on cutting edge technology that could be integrated with client legacy systems.

During product development, we leveraged the opinions of multiple retailers to guide feature development and usability. Our full lifecycle solution was introduced in the U.S. in late 2002 and was rapidly integrated into the business operations of several Fortune 500 retailers including Chipotle Mexican Grill, YUM! Brands and Circuit City stores.

We also formed sales and integration partnerships with Accruent and Experian. Lx IWMS was offered to clients of Experian, and Accruent resold Lx IWMS v3.81 as an integrated software bundle first known as SLM or Store Lifecycle Management and then as Real Estate Performance Management or RPM.

2009 – A Year of Innovation

2009 was a year of massive growth and change, during which Lucernex developed the ‘first of its kind’ Standard Edition – a fully configured software solution that represents best practices throughout the industry and in compliance with published standards. The Standard Edition presents a lower cost of ownership for customers, and allows Lucernex to deploy the software quickly for immediate client benefit.

Lucernex also purchased Lease Cost Solutions, Inc., the developers of LseMod software in 2009. This fourteen-year-old company was founded by James R. Duport, a Fortune 500 corporate real estate manager. Lx LseMod allows corporate and commercial real estate professionals to analyze lease transactions, lease vs. buy decisions, sublease impact, budget capital and expenses costs, and compare alternatives or create what-if scenarios domestically and internationally.

In addition to Lx IWMS sales through Experian and Accruent, Lucernex Technologies also began selling direct to end users to build a stronger, more direct relationship with our clients.

2009 also saw the arrival of Ken Brown, the designer of SLIM and former CEO of National Facilities Group, as EVP and head of product development ushering in a new web-based lease administration module of Lx IWMS.

These improvements to our product offerings have positioned Lucernex as a dominant player in all phases of commercial real estate management, allowing each staff member within any organization to become more efficient in their daily work, saving time and money for our clients every day.
