The History of Lucernex Technologies

Lucernex Technologies was founded in 2000 to address the unique needs of owners with diverse real estate portfolios. The founders set out to develop powerful software tools that address real estate development and location management from the top down. The result was one easy-to-use, full lifecycle real estate solution with a low total cost of ownership (TCO) built on cutting edge technology that could be integrated with client legacy systems.

During product development, we leveraged the opinions of multiple retailers to guide feature development and usability. Our first full lifecycle solution was introduced in the U.S. in late 2002 and was rapidly integrated into the business operations of several Fortune 500 retailers including Chipotle Mexican Grill, YUM! Brands and Circuit City stores. Lx Retail (called Rollout Manager at the time) was the first Store Lifecycle Management System (SLM) on the market and was a 100% Software as a Service (SaaS) solution before the acronym SaaS had even been coined. This began Lucernex history of visionary leadership in the SLM and Integrated Workplace Management (IWMS) markets.

Partnership with Accruent

In 2005, Lucernex formed a sales and integration partnership with Accruent, licensing the v3.71 version of the Lx IWMS code to Accruent and providing Accruent temporary exclusive sales rights to market the solution. Accruent released the Lucernex solution as Accruent SLM (Store Lifecycle Management) which they sold to over 50 retailers between 2005 and 2009, making this re-branded version of Lx Retail the leading solution in the retail market.

2009 – A Year of Innovation

2009 was a year of massive growth and change, during which Lucernex developed the first of its kind Cloud solution for the Store Lifecycle Management, Lease Administration and IWMS markets. These cloud-based solutions lower upfront and long term cost of ownership for customers, allow Lucernex to deploy the software quickly for immediate client benefit and supply the highest performance solutions in the market.

Lucernex also purchased Lease Cost Solutions, Inc., the developers of LseMod software in 2009. This fourteen-year-old company was founded by James R. Duport, a Fortune 500 corporate real estate manager. Lx LseMod allows corporate and commercial real estate professionals to analyze lease transactions, lease vs. buy decisions, sublease impact, budget capital and expenses costs, and compare alternatives or create what-if scenarios domestically and internationally.

In 2009, Lucernex again began selling direct to end users to build a stronger, more direct relationship with our clients.

2009 also saw the arrival of Ken Brown, the designer of SLIM and former CEO of National Facilities Group, as EVP and head of product development ushering in a dramatic improvement in the web-based lease administration module of Lx Retail and IWMS.

Continuing our tradition of visionary leadership, Lucernex released the first of its kind Cloud environment in 2010, providing low cost, pay-per-use SLM, Lease Administration and IWMS solutions that any size company can afford and that can be implemented in days.

These improvements to our product offerings have positioned Lucernex as a dominant player in all phases of enterprise real estate management, allowing each staff member within any organization to become more efficient in their daily work, saving time and money for our clients every day.
